Hadrian's Wall Path

Start 13/08/2010 Wallsend, Newcastle upon Tyne

Finish 18/08/2010 Bowness-on-Solway

Distance 84miles/135km

Hadrian's Wall Path was my first walk since returning from my travels to SE Asia, Australia and New Zealand. I wasn't working so needed to choose a path that I could fit in between appointments with the employment service. This became my fourth traverse of England from the east coast to the west.

The route follows the River Tyne initially and is quite hard on the feet until Heddon-On-The-Wall. From here, the Wall and associated Roman archeology is ever present and the path undulates with fantastic views of Northumberland and the North Pennines.

I stayed at campsites for all but one night, a wild camp near Brampton.
