South West Coast Path
Start 03/08/2012 Poole Harbour
Finish 25/09/2012 Minehead
By the time I reached Poole Harbour to begin the South West Coast Path, I had walked almost 400 miles since setting out from Farnham at the start of the North Downs Way. My camera had been showing signs of fatigue during the trip so far and continued to deteriorate along this path. Regrettably there are gaps in the photographic record of the journey, mostly through the latter stages, and therefore an incomplete record of my overnight locations, but there are many options available for wild camping.
The island limits challenge did not permit me to use any other mode of transport other than Shanks's pony, but this time I could cross river estuaries using the ferry services available, rather than make long detours inland to the nearest bridge. There were, therefore, a number of sections along the path that I hadn't walked in 2004, and of those that I had, there were varying degrees of familiarity.
It was all good. I love this National Trail. I might walk it again someday, in the opposite direction. Just for the craic!
